Wyld Type Hybrid

This blog concerns the past, present, and future aspects of the rock band, Wyld Type Hybrid (WTH). The two current members Matt B. Mahoney (mbassm) and Charles Mahoney (emanifesto) will be your hosts.

WTH was conceived in 1995 by three friends, Matt B. Mahoney (bass/vocals), Aaron Douville (guitar/vocals), and Glenn Wong (drums). Together they generated a few songs and played a couple of gigs.

By 1997, Wong had left the band, leaving a gap at the drum throne. This vacancy was quickly nullified by the appearance of Tobias Black. This new power trio cut a demo tape and a full length album, Songs from the Book of Ken Jones. Many gigs were played and much fun was had.

Turmoil struck once again in the year 2000, when Douville and Black departed. Meanwhile, nearly a complete album’s worth of material had been developed. Not wanting this to go to waste, Mahoney recruited his younger brother, Chuck (drums/percussion), to record this album, Chicanery for a Common Rube, released in 2001. The chemistry was highly apparent, so the brothers continued the WTH legacy.

In 2005, a third album, Placebo, Please?, was released. The band is currently in the process of rehearsals for the follow up album, as of yet untitled.
